Sig P211 GTO / GT4 / GT5 Upgrade & Tuning Guide: Comp Delete, Guide Rod & Recoil Springs
Posted by Fdez Werx on 23rd Oct 2026
The Sig Sauer P211 platform (including the GTO, GT4, and GT5) delivers double-stack 1911/2011 ergonomics and speed out of the box, but tuning the front-end mass, recoil system, and fire-control ergonomics transforms how flat the pistol tracks at speed. Below is a breakdown of every Fdez Werx P211 upgrade, which sub-models each part fits, and how to tune your spring rate for your ammunition and competition division.
1. P211 GTO Sight Block Comp Delete (Sight-Tracker / Limited Optics Setup)
If you shoot a P211 GTO and want to transition from an integral compensator setup to a non-compensated sight-block configuration (ideal for competition divisions that prohibit compensators while retaining front-end reciprocating/non-reciprocating balance), the P211 GTO Sight Block Comp Delete installs directly onto the factory P211 GTO muzzle attachment.
- Material & Weight Match: CNC-machined from hardened stainless steel to match the weight of the OEM compensator so balance and sight return stay consistent.
- Hardware: Uses your existing OEM taper wedge pin, spring, and set screw, and ships with a spare hollow set screw (usable as a jam nut or backup).Need replacement factory hardware? See the P211 Comp Replacement Set Screw and Spring and P211 GTO OEM Compensator Taper Wedge Pin.
- Installation Tip: Always clean carbon buildup off the barrel end and mount after removing the factory comp before installing the Sight Block Comp Delete.
2. Heavy Duty Fat Rod & Recoil Spring Tuning (GTO / GT4 vs. GT5)
Replacing the factory guide rod assembly with the P211 GTO / GT4 Heavy Duty Fat Rod and Plug adds non-reciprocating forward weight under the barrel and smooths out slide cycling. Pair it with calibrated recoil springs matched to your slide length and ammunition power factor:
- P211 GTO & GT4 Recoil Springs: Choose between the 8lb Recoil Spring (light competition loads / ported or compensated setups), 10lb Recoil Spring (balanced all-around 115gr–147gr range and match ammo), or 13lb Recoil Spring (full-power duty loads).
- P211 GT5 (5" Slide) Recoil Springs: Dedicated 5-inch springs are available in P211 GT5 8lb and P211 GT5 10lb ratings.
3. Trigger Control, Series 70 Conversion & Grip Safety Delete (All P211 Models)
Every Fdez Werx P211 fire-control and grip upgrade fits all three sub-models (GTO, GT4, and GT5):
- P211 Adjustable Trigger: Features polished trigger-bow surfaces with all sharp edges removed and independent pre-travel and over-travel adjustment without disassembling the firearm.
- P211 Grip Safety DELETE Beaver Tail & P211 OEM Beavertail Grip Safety (Pinned/Delete): Eliminates fail-to-fire grip safety engagement on high-thumbs competition draws with zero frame drilling or modification.
- P211 Series 70 Conversion Filler Plate: Replaces the firing-pin block lever when converting to a crisp Series 70 trigger pull.
4. Lightweight 7075 Aluminum vs. Heavy Naval Brass Magwells
- Light Weight P211 Magwell: Machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum (0.6 oz) for fast concealed carry and IDPA/all-around builds.
- BRASS P211 Magwell: Machined from solid naval brass to anchor the bottom of the grip and counterbalance muzzle rise in USPSA Limited Optics and 3-Gun competition.
